If you're shopping for a new manufactured home in Camden, East Camden or anywhere in Ouachita County, you've probably noticed that two homes with similar floor plans can come with very different quotes. Usually the difference isn't the house. It's what's wrapped around it: delivery, setup, air conditioning, skirting and the service you get afterward. This guide walks through what a manufactured home price can cover, what El Dorado Home Center in El Dorado says about its pricing, and the questions to ask any dealer before you sign.
A manufactured home price can mean just the home sitting on the sales lot, or it can mean a home delivered, set up and ready to move into. Many retailers, including El Dorado Home Center, don't post prices online. Its site asks shoppers to contact the team for pricing, because the final number depends on the model, the options you choose and what your land needs.
That makes a written, itemized quote your best friend. Once every line item is on paper, you can compare one dealer's number to another's fairly.
El Dorado Home Center's website says the team helps buyers "from the purchase of the home thru the set-up and top it off with service after the sale." In other words, the conversation doesn't end when you pick a floor plan.
The site also says the team keeps a close eye on what it pays for delivery, air, skirting and service in order to keep your price down. Those are exactly the items worth seeing spelled out on your quote, so ask the sales team to show you how each one is handled for the home you're considering.
A few other things the dealership highlights: its site says the staff has over 80 years of experience, it sells homes built by Jessup, Kabco and Clayton, and if you already have a plan picked out, the site says to bring it in and they will build it.
Whether you're shopping in El Dorado, Camden or anywhere else, ask each dealer to put the following in writing:
In Arkansas, the Arkansas Manufactured Home Commission is charged by statute with certifying or licensing manufacturers, retailers, installers and salespersons in the manufactured housing business. It's reasonable to ask any dealer and installer about their licenses.
On the home itself, look for the HUD label. HUD explains that the Certification Label, also called a HUD tag, is a metal plate fixed to the outside of a manufactured home, and that a paper Data Plate is inside, often near the main electrical panel, in a kitchen cabinet or in a bedroom closet.
El Dorado Home Center's lineup includes Jessup Housing's Elite series and other plans. The Molly from Jessup's Promotional series has 2 bedrooms, 2 baths and 940 sq ft in a 16'x60' layout. The Jackson has 3 bedrooms, 2 baths and 1,191 sq ft in a 16'x76' layout.
Three Elite series homes currently carry a Special Offer badge on the site. The Roosevelt has 3 bedrooms, 2 baths and 1,680 sq ft (32'x56'). The Eisenhower has 3 bedrooms, 2 baths and 1,800 sq ft (32'x60'). The Madison has 4 bedrooms, 2 baths and 1,920 sq ft (32'x64'). Ask the team for the details of each offer.
Your monthly payment is part of the price picture. El Dorado Home Center has a financing page where you can start an application, and the team can walk you through your options for your situation.
